Before fully transitioning to acting in 2002 in the horror film “28 Days Later,” Irish actor Cillian Murphy was a singer. In fact, he was the lead singer, lyricist, and guitarist for “The Sons of Mr. Green Genes” rock band. One of the band’s shows in 1996 gave him the chance to meet Yvonne McGuinness.
Murphy and his long-time girlfriend dated for eight years before they settled down into marriage in mid-2004, meaning they’ve been together for more than 25 years. McGuinness, who’s also Irish, is a print, video installation, and other context visual artist. The couple has two sons together.
