A Blast from the Past: Celebs at Their Peak of Perfection Vs. Now
Marlo Thomas – Born in 1937
Marlo Thomas broke new ground with “That Girl,” portraying Ann Marie, a single, working woman pursuing her dreams in New York. This show was a beacon of independence for women. As one of the first women to produce her own series, Marlo’s decision to end the show without her character marrying sent a strong message about female autonomy.
Her continued success in television and her Emmy-winning role in “Nobody’s Child” highlighted her versatile talent. Beyond acting, Marlo co-founded the Ms. Foundation for Women and significantly contributed to children’s entertainment with “Free to Be… You and Me.” A committed philanthropist, she’s the National Outreach Director for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
