Bloopers? More Like Awkwardly Hilarious Television Moments That’ll Be Hard To Forget
Special Guest On Today’s Episode
A dog walks into a studio, and it’s par for the course. But when a bird flies in, people are bound to start wondering what’s up with this new trend. It’s sort of like the animal kingdom has got a thing against news anchors and television personalities in general.
At least, that seemed to be the general impression when a runaway exotic bird perched on an anchor’s head. Ironically, Nichelle Medina and Eric Kahnet were busy hosting a “Zoo Day” segment on KFMB-TV when the scarlet ibis named Sophie came flying in. Of course, that’s the kind of representation we won’t mind seeing often.
When Working From Home Was Still A New Concept
The year 2020 was unusual in more ways than one. And the predominant trend globally was the shift to a work-from-home culture. As you’d expect, professionals scrambled to deal with the sudden merger of their private family life with their corporate life.
Of course, many parents had their work cut out for them. But one man seemed to rise beautifully to the occasion. When WCBS-TV meteorologist Lonnie Quinn was interrupted by his young daughters during a broadcast, he was unfazed. Instead, he handled the interruption like a pro, choosing to share the spotlight as he continued his broadcast. For the girls, this one’s a moment they’ll cherish forever.
Captain Jack Sparrow Unaccustomed To Life In The City
When this clip first made the rounds on the internet, the question on everyone’s minds was what inspired the incident. So imagine our total surprise when we discovered that what was meant to be a recording of an actual event was, in truth, 100% fake and created by Jess Weber of “Weberz Way Films.”
The madcap Captain Jack Sparrow from “Pirates of the Caribbean” and renowned Los Angeles reporter Madison Brooks are in reality actress Kristin Sargent playing Madison Brooks and a random man dressed as the famous Jack Sparrow. We must admit the crew deserves top marks for fooling us, though.
Dozing Off At Work Caught On Camera
Movie bloopers may contain lots of comedic fodder. But they’re no match for the kind of shenanigans television personalities can get up to while on the job. And in case this photo doesn’t make it clear enough, the man with his hands folded in his lap has fallen asleep on live television.
Tucker Carlson had probably had a tiring night the day before, so he decided to catch some winks while he was supposed to be hosting “Fox & Friends.” His co-hosts, Alisyn Camerota and Mike Jerrick, took full advantage of the opportunity by aiming their well-timed banter at him.
Cue The Awkward Music For The Entrance Of Dad’s Belly
Parents weren’t the only ones who got the short end of the stick when 2020 forced them to work from home. As a result, even children got to see a new side of their parents‒sides they could have been happy not knowing existed.
However, in the case of Floridian reporter Jessica Lange, the rest of the internet also became unexpected spectators. She was filming a report for Suncoast News Network when her father walked into the frame shirtless. In a few seconds, Lange and the world were treated with a clip of his belly. It turns out he wasn’t camera ready.
Fangirl Moment Or Lawsuit?
A kiss on the cheek from a friend or acquaintance is quite common if you meet up for lunch or a party. But a kiss from a rapper you’re barely friends with is the last thing Erin Andrews, a sportscaster covering the Daytona 500, expected.
In 2013, 50 Cent approached Andrews at a racing event and kissed her. On the other hand, Andrews appeared busy as she attempted to grab racecar driver Danica Patrick’s attention. As a result, he opted for a cheek kiss. 50 Cent would later reveal he just wanted to kiss her, while Andrews said the photo looked worse than it really was.
Yanet Garcia’s Always Hot Weather Reports
“Hoy,” the Mexican version of “Today,” is a daily morning program that’s seen some memorable reporters and contributors since its debut in the late ’90s. And speaking of notable reporters, Yanet Garcia has a spot on that list. Viewers of the show know her both for her presentation and fit figure.
Before Garcia moved to “Hoy,” she already had a reputation as a likable weather girl in Mexico. But the day producers at the studio decided to use Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” for her outro, Garcia lost her elegant pose as she burst into laughter. And she even paused to blow a little kiss at the camera.
Local Weather Reporter Camouflages Herself
Meteorologists and the color green don’t usually go well together. And we only have the chroma key green screen in studios to blame. But Liberté Chan believed she could get away with a lighter shade of bottle green. And this picture lets us know how wrong she was.
When Chan began her forecasting segment on KLA-TV that day, it didn’t take long for her to realize that the folks back home could literally see through her. Luckily, her co-anchor, Chris Burrous, saved her blushes and came to the rescue by lending her his suit jacket. Chan couldn’t be more grateful for his quick thinking.
Belinda Russell’s Wardrobe Malfunction
Still on wardrobe fails, here’s popular Channel Nine presenter, “Belinda Russell,” pulling a George Costanza. If you missed that reference, Seinfeld’s Costanza is known for wearing a nude-colored ensemble on an episode of the show. And before this incident, no one would have thought Russell considered him a kindred spirit.
So imagine how shocked viewers were that day when they turned on the TV to watch the 6 PM weather bulletin to find a nude host welcoming them to that night’s episode. Soon enough, though, everyone realized that Russell was well covered and only betrayed by the shade of her outfit.
Corporate Casual By Day PJs By Night
So far, we’ve only dwelled on the hazards of the work-from-home culture. But now it’s time to address a perk—the ability to get the job done by doing the barest minimum. Majid Asfour was scheduled for an interview with “Al Jazeera.” And he looks presentable enough in his suit and tie, as the first photo shows.
But then his son recorded the rest of dad’s outfit and shared it on the internet. But if the former editor-in-chief of “Al Ria Arabic” was mad at his newfound popularity, he didn’t show it that day. If the internet revealed anything subsequently, it’s that Asfour’s only one of millions who chose comfort.

Why Everyone’s Keen On The Weather Forecast
Meteorologists may have a rule about wearing green to the studio. But outside of that color specification, no one said anything about clothing-specific dress codes. And many weather forecasters have been known to wear the most daring outfits in the studio.
On this day, Latin American meteorologist Nalié López showed up at the studio in this bright pink tank top and brown shorts. Still, there’s no telling if she wasn’t planning on making any headlines after her segment. But when her minor wardrobe malfunction made her the talk of the town—or the internet—she decided to make the most of it by launching a modeling career.
Going Viral For The Wrong Reasons
At this point, broadcasting networks ought to issue out a memo reminding their presenters to inform their housemates whenever they’ll be filming a segment. Just so the internet wouldn’t get too clogged with photos of half-dressed or completely undressed people walking around behind the scenes.
Spanish news anchor Alfonso Merlos learned the hard way when viewers spotted a barely dressed woman stroll behind him while he was live on TV. The situation became stickier when eagle-eyed fans confirmed that the woman was not his partner, former Big Brother star Marta Lopez. Thankfully, Merlos made up for it later and apologized for the uncomfortable situation.
Is It a Bee or a Hornet?
Meteorologist Jennifer Ketchmark joins our list of news anchors who’ve enjoyed an unexpected visit from non-human creatures during their segments. And when this nosy bee made its way into the studio that fateful day, no one noticed until it popped right next to Ketchmark just as she was giving her weather reports.
Ketchmark fled the scene the minute she caught sight of the insect. But once she got over her fright, she couldn’t help laughing at the chances of her ending up on some ‘blooper reel.’ Acting like a true professional, she moved past the interruption and continued with the forecast.
The Calm in the Eye of a Technical Systems Crash
In 2017, a technical difficulty put a temporary pause on the BBC News at Ten. And Huw Edwards held the fort for four minutes until the issue was resolved before starting the show as though nothing had happened.
But then, if anyone could display such calm under pressure, it would be Edwards, who enjoys a reputation for hosting BBC’s flagship program. He later revealed that with so much going on in the gallery, no one had bothered to tell him he was on-air throughout the disturbance. Still, he suspected he might be, so he maintained an air of calm professionalism.
Who’s That?
Here’s a classic photo showing KABC-TV veteran Marc Brown and a sketch art of a criminal who bears a striking resemblance to him. Early on in his career as a news anchor, Brown was live on set describing a suspect. But viewers at home must have been shocked to discover that he could easily pass for the man in the sketch.
Of course, the photo dates from long before the internet became as widespread as it is today, but it’s sure made its rounds since then. And no doubt Brown must have been shocked to see the resemblance too. Talk about an embarrassing coincidence.
