BRENDA LEE | BORN IN 1944, ROCKIN’ AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE

One of the most enduring holiday songs to still be relevant over 60 years after its making is “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” It’s credited to American songstress Brenda Mae Tarpley, professionally known as Brenda Lee, who began her singing career in 1951. She gained fame with her 1960 hit “I’m Sorry.”

Still going strong in the industry, Lee has belted bangers since the ’50s, performing pop, rockabilly, and country music. She’s credited with 47 US chart hits in the ’60s and ranks fourth in that decade thanks to the prowess of Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, and The Beatles.
