FROM PRANKSTER HUGS TO TRAVOLTA KISSES AND THE TIME WILL SMITH SLAPPED HIS PEER, THESE RED CARPET MOMENTS ARE UNFORGETTABLE
Lil Uzi Vert Has a Strained Convo With Giuliana Rancic – Grammys, 2018
Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo’s Wardrobe Mishap – Vanity Fair Oscar Party, 2015
Ah, the infamous wardrobe malfunctions. One of the most famous went down at the Super Bowl Half time show in 2004 when Justin Timberlake accidentally exposed Janet Jackson’s bosom to a viewing public of roughly 150 million people during a collaborative performance. The whole fiasco was dubbed Janetgate and is credited with being the incident that made YouTube.

There was nearly a Behatigate at the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party when model Behati Prinsloo almost had a similar mishap. Luckily, her husband, singer Adam Lavine was on hand, providing the necessary cover while she adjusted her dress. Jackson probably wishes she had performed with Lavine in 2004.
Giuliana Rancic Tells Emilia Clarke “You Can Go” – Emmys, 2016
For someone who is a veteran of working the red carpet, Giuliana Rancic has appeared in the story an awful lot for some embarrassing moments. Sure, working on a live red carpet event can be daunting and will never go down perfectly, but some of the boundaries she has crossed are criminally bad.

Like the time she told Emilia Clarke, a TV queen at the time thanks to “Game of Thrones,” that she could go. It wasn’t so much the words, but the dismissive way Rancic used them and the fact that she persisted with telling her to go after Clarke didn’t move. All because she spotted Heidi Klum.
Elsa Hosk’s Earring – Venice Film Festival, 2019
Elsa Hosk is a model who made waves as Victoria’s Secret Angel and worked on campaigns for Dior Dolce & Gabbana, Ungaro, H&M, and Guess, among others. She has also dabbled in acting, and this career nuance has at least gotten her invited to the Venice Film Festival.

Being the striking beauty that she is, she had to wear something stunning, and she duly obliged with a dress that had a gold skirt with a high slit. This was all good when she was walking, but when she had to pick up her earring that fell out, she struggled to keep herself covered; the moment was both honest and funny.
Joan Rivers Accosts Nicole Kidman Over Her Dress – Oscars, 1997
The late Joan Rivers was a renowned Comedian and TV host. She was also pretty controversial and wasn’t afraid to direct thorny questions to celebrities she felt had made bad choices. One such incident happened at the Oscars in 1997, and needless to say, she just wouldn’t let it slide.

She took exception to Nicole Kidman wearing a green dress. She shouted at Kidman, who passed her by, and asked why she was wearing such an ugly dress. Kidman ignored her, and, not satisfied with the outcome; Rivers shouted that she hated the color and that it would make her throw up. Thankfully she didn’t.
Lil Uzi Vert Has a Strained Convo With Giuliana Rancic – Grammys, 2018
One of the most challenging things for a journalist is to interview a nonresponsive celebrity. Interviewers require their subjects to be colorful and lively to dovetail their answers, so when someone is just answering questions with no effort, an interviewer can struggle with the interview.

Amy Schumer Talks Tampons – Emmys, 2016
Wonder why Giuliana Rancic features so prevalently in this story? Well, that’s because she is one of E! Network’s most experienced and prominent red carpet reporters. She’s so famous for the job she even had a reality show called “Giuliana & Bill,” featuring her and her husband, Bill Rancic.

Luckily this one isn’t about her, although she still features. Instead, this is about Amy Schumer, another repeat offender in this story who was particularly witty at the 2016 Emmy Awards. During her interview, Rancic asked Schumer who she was wearing, and Schumer shot back in a wink, answering, “An OB Tampon.” We think Schumer may have missed the mark there.
This Greeting Between Reese Witherspoon and Felicity Jones – Oscars, 2015
Secret handshakes used to be a part of the trade for secret agents and long-running military men. But these days, everyone and their uncle has one. Just look at soccer players like Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard, who have extensive handshakes that look like they need quite a bit of practice to master.

Reese Witherspoon and Felicity Jones did something far less complex at the 2015 Oscars when they crossed paths on the red carpet. A simple grab of one another’s wrists, and you knew that was a lot more than just professional courtesy and mutual respect between them. In 2018 Jones even cited Witherspoon as her inspiration.
Giuliana Rancic Asks Issa Rae About Her Memoir – Golden Globes, 2018
The most important thing a reporter on the red carpet needs to do is be prepared. Giuliana Rancic, a veteran of the red carpet for E!, should know this better than anyone. But alas, she managed to miss the mark when interviewing actress, writer, and producer Issa Rae at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards.

During the interview, Rancic asked Rae what she would call her memoir. Rae got a little awkward because she had already released a memoir, which just so happened to be a bestseller called “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl.” Rancic seemed like she was hardly expecting to run into Rae on the carpet.
Jenna Bush Asks Pharrell about “Hidden Fences” – Oscars, 2017
Be prepared; that is all that is expected of a reporter when they are working the red carpet. They need to know what they’re talking about to whom and to get those acts in order. But most importantly, try not to mix the movie titles up. Jenna Bush didn’t heed these simple guidelines when interviewing Pharrell Williams.

He was at the 2017 Oscars as the producer of the film “Hidden Figures.” But when Bush was interviewing him, she questioned him about a movie called Hidden Fences. It appears that Bush mixed this film title with another, a predominantly black starring film called “Fences.” She apologized the next day.
Will Arnett Avoids Question About Amy Poehler – Emmys, 2013
Will Arnette is a versatile actor who has had many roles, including his breakthrough role in the series “Arrested Development.” He is also the voice of Lego Batman and is renowned for his voice work. He is also known for his comic timing and used this to good effect on the Emmy red carpet in 2013.

That was after the interviewer asked him how he and his wife prepared for the event. At the time, he and Amy Poehler had separated, and he told the interviewer his significant other didn’t exist. He followed this up by saying that he was looking forward to re-watching this on YouTube.
