ARMIN LASCHET AND SUSANNE LASCHET – 37 YEARS
As Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Armin Laschet was in charge of Germany’s most populous federal state for a long time. After beating Markus Söder internally as the top candidate for the 2021 federal election, things quickly went downhill for the CDU politician. One faux pas followed the next and in the end his party was unable to win a majority.
Privately and in love, things could not go better for Armin. The devout Catholic met his wife Susanne Laschet as a child in their Christian choir. Friendship eventually turned into love and the two married in 1985. Their marriage remains to this day, and 37 years later, just as strong and stable as it was when they met.
