Ecuador is famous as the sole nation named after a geographical component, the Equator. It’s also the only one nearest to space. Ecuador’s official name is República del Ecuador, which directly means “Republic of the Equator” because the Equator runs through it. It even has a monumental installation at one of the sites, where if you stand on it, it puts you in both the Southern and Northern Hemispheres.
Ecuador has a promising female soccer team apart from its wonderfully beautiful fans like these two in the photo. In July 2022, their national team beat Bolivia by scoring six goals to one.
