Danny Simmons – “Miles to Go B4 I Sleep” by Danny Simmons ($25K)
The older brother of the hip-hop record executive Russell Simmons and the rapper Joseph Simmons (of “Run D.M.C.” fame), Danny Simmons is a New York-based artist/poet with a Peabody Award in the bag. In addition to being a famous painter, he collaborates extensively with philanthropic programs, often helping disadvantaged youngsters to access art and education.
One of the creators of HBO’s “Def Poetry Jam,” Danny is arguably Brooklyn’s most influential grassroots art promoter. Some of his paintings are still up for sale, including “Miles to Go B4 I Sleep,” listed for $25K.
