These NFL Players’ Houses Leave Us With No Words

Cortland Finnegan – Brentwood, $1.4 Million

Before the Tennessee Titans drafted Cortland Finnegan in 2006 as their cornerback, he played for Samford college. In his NFL career, Finnegan has also played for the Dolphins, Saints, and Rams. In 2008, he bought a $1.5-million two-story, 5-bedroom house in Brentwood. The 6,693-square-foot house came with four and a half baths, an outdoor fireplace, an elevator, and a three-car garage. In 2012, after signing with the Rams, Finnegan decided to list the Brentwood house on luxury real estate ads with a $1.4-million asking price.  The house has a rustic style.

Rob Gronkowski –Boston Penthouse, $2.2 Million

Rob Gronkowski (a.k.a. “Gronk”) has earned quite a reputation as a party boy in his time as a tight end with the New England Patriots. Although Gronk is frequently spotted drinking alcohol at clubs in the off-season, he claims that his recreational activities only make him play harder when the time comes. In any case, his extracurricular activities haven’t impacted Rob’s earnings from contracts and endorsements. Gronk’s hefty bank account has landed him a $2.2 million Boston penthouse that includes a private roof deck, a spiral staircase, and two parking spaces.

Antonio Brown -Hollywood Mansion, $6.6 Million

Another NFL superstar who has a thing for luxury mansions and doesn’t mind spending his hard-earned money on opulent living is Antonio Brown. This wide receiver, who currently plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has splashed out about $6.6 million for his own Hollywood home. The 12-bedroom pad comes complete with ten bathrooms, two swimming pools, a wet bar alongside a cinema, a gym, office, and a spacious garage, just to name some. Oh, and did we mention that this mind-blowing estate offers a built-in synagogue and a large guest home, too? Well, we certainly didn’t expect less for a guy with such a deep pocket.

Russell Wilson –Bellevue Mansion, $6.7 Million

Russell Wilson, quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, has used his approximately $88 million in earnings to purchase eye-catching toys like a Mercedes-Benz G63 truck. Wilson has also acquired some upscale real estate, like the 10,700-square foot home that he shares with R&B star wife Ciara. The mansion is in suburban Bellevue, Washington and has a walk-in pantry, a wine cellar, five functioning fireplaces and a boat dock. Perhaps most impressively, the home offers sweeping views of Washington’s Meydenbauer Bay.

Michael Strahan -Los Angeles Mansion, $17 Million

Michael Strahan is not only a former NFL star, but he is also a famous TV personality who has hosted a few successful shows. That should probably explain how he’s managed to afford to invest nearly $17 million on a Los Angeles mansion back in 2013. This sprawling 9-bedroom estate features 14 bathrooms, both formal and informal living rooms, a butler’s pantry, fully-equipped kitchen, and a large swimming pool. But despite all that, Strahan decided to put this two-story, 15,600-square-foot villa on the market only months after buying it for a staggering $22 million. After lowering the price to half a million, the former New York Giants defensive end sold the property, cashing in almost $5 million from the sale and enriching further his savings account.

Peyton Manning –Denver Estate, $4.5 Million

Peyton Manning is one of the NFL’s elder statesmen. Now retired, the former quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos racked up a record $400 million in earnings over the course of his career. That income has funded a pretty luxurious lifestyle, exemplified by Manning’s Denver digs. The 16,500-square-foot mansion has an eye-popping seven bedrooms, a seven-car garage and an indoor elevator. When the mile-high city gets cold, though, Peyton can flee to one of the other properties in his real estate portfolio, which includes a condo in South Beach, Miami.

Julio Jones -Atlanta Mansion,$1.2 Million

Julio Jones plays as wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons and was a first-round draft pick back in 2011. The money he’s earned with the NFL has landed him some exciting toys, like the Ferrari he bought as part of a matching pair with former teammate Roddy White. Jones has also made real estate investments, including an Atlanta-area home worth $1.25 million. The sprawling mansion boasts features like a tennis court, a 2-bedroom guest house, a home gym, an entertainment room and heated floors.

Ryan Tannehill – Fort Lauderdale Mansion, $4.3 Million

Texas-born Ryan Tannehill moved across the Gulf of Mexico to play quarterback for the Miami Dolphins. With a $96 million contract extension in 2015, Tannehill settled down in South Florida for good, acquiring a modern, 4-bedroom home in Fort Lauderdale for a reported $4.3 million. The 5,500-square-foot property includes a free-standing guest house, a pool, and a home gym. If Tannehill wants to start investing in luxury cars, though, he’ll have to watch out for high car insurance payments, as his wife Lauren made headlines in 2014 when she forgot to remove an AR-15 rifle before returning a rental car.

Richard Sherman – Seattle Mansion,$2.3 Million

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman was at one point the highest-paid player in the NFL, with a $57 million contract extension and a prominent video game endorsement in 2014. Sherman has spent some of that cash on a $2.3 million mansion in suburban Maple Valley, Washington. The estate has an indoor pool, a hot tub, a billiards room and two fireplaces. And although Sherman’s bank account can certainly handle the mortgage payments, let’s hope that the star isn’t financially penalized or suspended due to another incident like his positive 2013 drug test for Adderall.

Tony Romo –Dallas Estate, $9 Million

Although he’s retired now, quarterback Tony Romo had an impressive career with the Dallas Cowboys, despite never having reached the Super Bowl. Romo kept his nose clean during his time with the NFL and reportedly even threw himself an alcohol-free bachelor party. His career earnings of about $90 million are sure to purchase the player some comfort in retirement – he spent $3 million on a piece of property in Dallas and invested a further $6 million on renovations, which include an outdoor entertainment area, three fireplaces, and a spa.

DeMarcus Ware – Denver Townhouse, $1.3 Million

Although he recently retired from playing for the Denver Broncos, former defensive end and linebacker DeMarcus Ware has made his home in the mile-high city. DeMarcus recently traded a six-bedroom mansion in Dallas for a townhouse in Denver’s Cherry Creek North. He reportedly side-stepped a mortgage by paying for the $1.3 million home outright in cash. Ware is also a NASCAR fan and with a net worth of about $38 million, he won’t need to rearrange his retirement planning to finance any flashy sports cars of his own.

Patrick Peterson -Scottsdale Mansion, $2.6 Million

Patrick Peterson is from a football family – his cousins include Bryant McFadden and Santana Moss – and his $70 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals may just put him at the head of the clan. The cornerback has splurged on some luxury cars, like his white Rolls-Royce convertible. Peterson has made some sound real estate investments as well, most notably his $2.7 million mansion in a gated community in Scottsdale. The sprawling house consists of 7,800 square feet and includes a wine cellar, basketball court, and a pool.

Brandon Marshall – Florida Estate, $5 Million

New York Giants wide receiver Brandon Marshall may have a $39 million contract, but he faced a tough lesson in real estate after moving to New York from his home base in Florida. The player recently sold his south Florida mansion (which sat in a gated community and included 6 bedrooms and a pool in its 17,500 square feet) for $5 million, and although Marshall was able to land a similarly-sized house in New Jersey, it’s likely that his property taxes were much, much higher. Marshall recently listed his Jersey home for rent, so maybe he’s still on the lookout.

Philip Rivers – San Diego Mansion, $3.5 Million

Alabama native Philip Rivers is so good, he’s earned over $80 million in contract extensions past his original $40 million deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. Those paydays have resulted in some big spending for the quarterback. He acquired a $3.5 million property outside San Diego that includes a library, a courtyard, and a full spa. But that’s not all. Rivers also shelled out $200K to transform a luxury SUV into a rolling office, complete with a 40-inch television and a refrigerator. In addition to the ancillary cost of car insurance, we’re guessing Rivers will also want to pay a chauffeur.

Peyton Manning – Denver Estate, $4.5 Million

Ndamukong Suh – Fort Lauderdale Mansion, $6.5 Million

Ndamukong Suh, a player for the Miami Dolphins, owns some of the most impressive real estate on our list. Small wonder, considering that the defensive tackle was the recipient of a staggering, record-setting $114 million contract in 2015. Suh is the proud owner (assuming that he completely side-stepped a mortgage) of an 11,100-square foot mansion which includes a home theater, a private gym, a massive kitchen and a wine cellar. No word on the size of Suh’s garage, though, which will have to be big enough to house his Range Rover.

Carson Palmer – Villa Del Mar Estate, $25 Million

He’s retired now, but in his impressive 15 seasons in the NFL, quarterback Carson Palmer filled up both his bank account and his real estate holdings. The former Arizona Cardinals player purchased a $4.4 million-acre lot near San Diego and then sank a jaw-dropping $20 million into constructing an 8,000-square foot mansion. The dream house features five fireplaces, six bedrooms, an indoor-outdoor shower and an infinity pool. Although he has now listed the mammoth home for $25 million, it may be a while before he can find a buyer willing to take on that price tag (and the associated property taxes)!

Robert Griffin III -Maryland Mansion, $2.5 Million

Robert Griffin III (alias RG3) is a quarterback who’s formerly played for the Washington Redskins and Cleveland Browns. Griffin has kept himself in top shape, a fact due in part to his abstaining from drugs and alcohol at least until he retires. RG3 used that same level-headed thinking to make some wise real estate investments, most notably the $2.75 million home he purchased during his time with the Redskins. The DC-area home has stunning features like an indoor elevator, a jacuzzi, a spa and five bedrooms, all packed into a roomy 9,000-square-foot package.

Marshawn Lynch -San Francisco Mansion, $3.3 Million

Marshawn Lynch has made over $50 million in contract earnings and some extra from endorsements, but the running back still has a reputation for being cheap. Lynch drove a simple Honda Civic for years and only recently upgraded to a Toyota Prius. But while the Oakland Raiders player may not have a taste for luxury cars, he certainly has a flair for king-sized real estate. Lynch has a waterfront home in San Francisco that features floor-to-ceiling windows, five bedrooms, and his own boat dock; the 7,000-square foot mansion costs about $3.6 million.

Matt Forte –Chicago Mansion, $4.1 Million

Matt Forte is a running back for the New York Jets and formerly played for the Chicago Bears. Forte’s $32 million contract with the Bears led him to settle down in the city’s upscale River North area. In 2015, he spent $4 million on the freestanding home, which features 9,000 square feet, a home theater, a spiral staircase and an indoor elevator. Apparently, the deluxe house isn’t big enough for Forte, though; in 2017, he sought to add a 1,100-square foot extension to the three-story structure, a change that will require a city zoning change and will likely trigger an increase in his property taxes.

Von Miller – Denver Estate, $8 Million

Outside linebacker Von Miller bounced back from a rocky 2013 (he was suspended for six games after failing a league drug test) to lead the Denver Broncos to Super Victory in 2015; he even earned an MVP title for himself! We can’t fault Von, then, for splurging on luxury car purchases like his BMW i8. Miller also celebrated his win by boosting his real estate portfolio with an $8 million mansion outside Denver. The 7-bedroom home includes a deluxe walk-in closet, a saltwater aquarium and a furnished basement that Miller has dubbed “Club 58,” after his jersey number.

Julius Peppers –Miami Home, $5.18 Million

When Julius Peppers of the Carolina Panthers signed a hefty contract with the Green Bay Packers, he rushed to treat himself with a brand new home. The NFL defensive end dropped $5.18 million for a Miami mansion that, besides eight bedrooms and as many baths, also features a chef’s kitchen, infinity pool, library, and even a wine cellar. However, once Peppers switched teams meanwhile, he decided to part ways with his  9,100-square-foot Dutch-Caribbean mansion and he went on to list it for a staggering $6.5 million in 2017. As far as we know, this stunning estate is still waiting for its new owner, so, if you are into luxury homes, you may want to check it out.

LaDainian Tomlinson –California Estate, $3.5 Million

Even though LaDainian Tomlinson sold this stunning 9,600-square-foot of heaven a few years back with a $5K-loss, we simply had to include it on our list. The retired running back purchased the property way in 2004 for some $3.5 million, just months after signing a record-breaking contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. In addition to five bedrooms and five bathrooms, the sprawling mansion features a large solar-heated swimming pool, a basketball court, guest home, and a hidden home theater. There is also a huge fish tank, game room, and everything else one family would ever need from a house. The only downside is, of course, the sky-high home insurance policy that comes along with such an estate, but we’ll leave it to the new owners to worry about it.

Kurt Warner – Scottsdale Mansion, $3.3 Million

Retired NFL quarterback and a Hall of Famer, Kurt Warner reportedly shelled out about $3.3 million to call this contemporary mansion home back in 2005. The 11,000-square-foot property, located n Scottsdale, Arizona, offers a gorgeous swimming pool complete with a cabana, an exercise and game room in addition to seven bedrooms, and ten bathrooms. However, the retired athlete decided to part ways with this stunning pad a few years back, and after some time on the market, the home found its new owners on an auction. And even though Warner had to settle for $2.55 million, which was almost half less than his original asking price, we know that his net worth did not suffer at all.

Jerry Rice – California Estate, $2.6 Million

Rumor has it that Jerry Rice ventured into real estate, and judging by his former California home, it seems like he knows a thing or two about the matter. As it happens, the former wide receiver of the San Francisco 49ers reportedly bought this stunning 13,900-square-foot mansion in 1997 for $2.6 million, and after some serious renovation, he managed to sell it for a whopping $9 million in 2013. Besides six bedrooms and eleven bathrooms, this gorgeous estate also boasts a gym, sauna, steam room, as well as a swimming pool complete with a pool house and an underground garage. It goes without saying that the pad includes a top-notch security system and all the latest appliances you can imagine.

Elvis Dumervil – Florida Mansion, $2.3 Million

Soon after he concluded his contract with the Baltimore Ravens, Elvis Dumervil dropped $2.3 million for a Florida home in 2013. However, this investment turned to be a bad one as the NFL defensive end sold the Mediterranean-style property the very next year for $150K less. The new owners now get to enjoy living in the 7,900 square feet of luxury that comes complete with seven bedrooms and as many bathrooms, plus, a game room, home theater, gorgeous swimming pool with a spa, nursery, and so much more. Well, we wouldn’t be surprised if Dumervil regrets letting go of this dream home eventually. We definitely would.

Keyshawn Johnson – California Home, $11 Million

Retired wide receiver and current sports analyst, Keyshawn Johnson used to enjoy opulent living in this sprawling 11,746-square-foot mansion. But then, he got tired of his obnoxious neighbor, Justin Bieber, and sold the property for $8.4 million to Kourtney Kardashian after chopping the price more than once. The Calabasas pad, which sits on 1.186 acres of land, boasts six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, as well as a sports court, giant swimming pool, and a gaming room. Furthermore, there is also an elevator, spa, and a home cinema, together with a fitting, sky-high home insurance policy. We can only hope that Kim’s older sis gets along better with the young pop star since this home is such a gem.

Patrick Willis – $3.5 Million

Besides for flashy rides, Patrick Willis obviously has a thing for prime real estate properties, too. The retired linebacker reportedly purchased this stunning 4-bedroom mansion located in San Jose in 2010 for a cool $3.5 million. In addition to five bathrooms, this 9,900-square-foot of living space features an office, cinema, as well as a gym and a pool, among other amenities. On the outside of the property, there is an amazing infinity swimming pool with a cabana and spa and an open living room. However, Willis won’t be spending his retirement in San Jose, as he sold the residence for $4.26 million in 2017, after dropping his original price of $6 million a few times.

Adrian Peterson –Texas Mansion, $5 Million

The running back of the Arizona Cardinals, Adrian Peterson used to live in a “modest” $650K-Minnesota home until 2013, when he dropped over $5 million for this breathtaking Texas property. In addition to 10,582 square feet of living space, six bedrooms, and even ten bathrooms, the residence includes all sorts of amenities –  from a wine cellar, library, and a nanny’s quarters to a gym, game, and media room. There is also a swimming pool that wouldn’t be quite complete without a cabana and a spa. However, Peterson no longer enjoys living in this home, as he sold it for a staggering $6.7 million in 2017. Well, it looks like the NFL star knows a thing or two about flipping, and he can easily find a career in real estate business if he ever wants to.

Jason Taylor – Santa Fe Residence, $3.6 Million

A retired defensive end and a former Dancing with the Stars cast, Jason Taylor plunked down approximately $3.6 million for this dream house in Rancho Santa Fe back in 2006. The 10,247-square-foot property, that sits on an acre of land, boasts seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, as well as a home theater, fish aquarium, wine cellar, and a library. There is also a game room, cigar and poker room, and a swimming pool complete with a cabana. However, it seems like Taylor got sick and tired of huge home insurance bills, as he decided to let go of this waterfront pad in 2017 for $3.2 million. He obviously didn’t mind the $400K loss from his property investment.

Lance Briggs – Arizona,  $2.699 Million

Lance Briggs played for the Chicago Bears for the entire 12 years of his NFL career. Briggs retired in 2015 after declaring on several occasions back in 2007 that he wasn’t happy with the Bears as an organization and his income at the time. That didn’t stop him from making sizeable purchases during his career, so he bought a mansion in Arizona for $3.4 million. However, he later listed the 6,795-square-foot mansion for $2.699 million which was essentially a loss. Briggs had two of his houses go on foreclosure in 2017.

Jeff Garcia- California – $6.499 Million

During his 12-year NFL career, Jeff Garcia had been a quarterback for eight different teams. He’s a four-time NFL Pro Bowl selectee and four-time CFL All-Star, and Garcia is also a 2019 NFL Hall of Fame nominee. Despite a 2004 DUI arrest, the retired quarterback has had a squeaky clean career, perhaps thanks to his wife Carmella DeCesare. He initially listed his Rancho Santa Fe home that they acquired in 2009 for $6.565 million and they re-listed it in 2018 for $6.499 million. The 10,117-square-foot home comes with six bedrooms, eight baths, six fireplaces, a wine cellar, and an outdoor pool.

Mike Singletary-California,  $3.295 Million

Former NFL professional Mike Singletary is also a 1998 Pro Football Hall of Famer. After retiring, he became a linebacker coach and worked with the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers eventually promoted him in 2008 to the head coach position which he held until 2010. He’s currently the Memphis Express’ head coach. With such a successful career, it’s easy to see why Singletary didn’t have to dent his finances on a luxury Saratoga mansion. He listed the luxury house for sale in California for $3.295 million in 2011, which was a $703K drop from the initial asking price. In 2002, the six-bedroom house underwent a complete renovation worth $750K.

Adam Podlesh- Illinois, $879.5K

Former punter Adam Podlesh is the only player in college football history to have stayed for four years with the All-Atlantic Coast Conference. He also boasts of having the second-best punting average of 43.1 yards in school history. In his NFL career, Podlesh has played for the Jaguars, Bears, and Steelers. His career ended when Podlesh decided to stay by his wife’s side when she was experiencing serious pregnancy complications. Podlesh eventually listed his 4,248-square-foot Libertyville home just after the Bears let go of him in 2014. Podlesh had a $949K asking price for the 14-room house that he bought in 2011 for $79.5K, and it eventually sold for $879.5K.

Jim Harbaugh- California, $6.2 Million

Former quarterback Jim Harbaugh currently serves as the University of Michigan Wolverines football coach. Harbaugh has had stints in acting, appearing on The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. in 1994 and in 1996, he appeared as Screech’s brother on Saved by the Bell. Naturally, with all his streams of income, he could invest $6.225 million in an Asherton, California mansion. The 6,127-square-foot mansion built in 2007 rests on 1.30 acres of land. It boasts hickory floors, two BBQs, a pool, and a football field. Former news anchor Suzanne Shaw, who co-owns a commercial real estate company with her husband William Shaw, previously owned the mansion.

Kurt Warner – Scottsdale,  $4.998 Million

In 2017, Kurt Warner became a Pro Football Hall of Famer, and he’s also the only person who’s ever been inducted into both the Arena and Pro Football Hall of Fame. As of 2018, Warner works as a full-time radio analyst and he’s also had several TV appearances, including hosting the 2013 reality series, The Moment. Scottsdale listed his 11,000-square-foot luxury house for sale with a $4.998-million asking price. The seven-bedroom Scottsdale mansion has a game room, pool area, theater room, and a waterfall extending from the house.

Richard Sherman,$2.3 Million

The 49ers quarterback Richard Sherman is a four-time All-Pro and he’s also played four times in the Pro Bowl. Sherman is the ambassador of the blockchain trading hub COBINHOOD and the FleetWit trivia app. He’s also the proud owner of two homes in Maple Valley, Washington, and Yorba Linda, California. Sherman’s $2.3-million Maple Valley mansion offers four bedrooms with 6.25 baths, a curved staircase, a red game room, an indoor pool, private decks in three of the bedrooms, and a basketball court. He got a great deal on it, buying it for $1 million, which was less than what former owner Jamal Crawford spent buying the estate.

Matt Birk – Reisterstown, $1.6 Million

Six-time Pro Bowl and two-time All-Pro former center Matt Birk played college football for the Harvard Ivy league university. He retired in 2013 and the following year, he got the position of NFL director of football development. After signing with the Ravens in 2009, Birk bought a home in Reisterstown, Maryland. Spread out on a 1.2-acre piece of land, the two-story house built in 2008 features five bedrooms with four and a half baths, a covered second-floor porch, a two-story foyer, and a four-car garage.

Michael Turner – Georgia,$2.3 Million

Michael Turner served as a running back for the San Diego Chargers and then the Atlanta Falcons during his 8-year NFL career. The Falcons released Turner in 2013 after a failed medical exam and he decided not to sign with another team after that. Turner bought a 10,323-square-foot Georgia mansion for $2.08 million in 2008. The manor-style estate spread over an acre has six bedrooms with nine baths. It also features a hot tub, a library, a full bar, six fireplaces, and four parking spaces. The deluxe house went on the market in 2015 with a price tag of $2.3 million.

Shaun O’Hara – New Jersey, $2.7 Million

O’Hara thought ahead and invested in a $2.7-million retirement home in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. Offering 7,520 square feet, the house has six bedrooms with eight baths, a lower level lounge, a wet bar, bluestone porch, a stone fireplace, a three-car garage, and more. O’Hara retired in 2012 after the Giants released him the year before, and he currently serves as an ESPN Radio and NFL Network color analyst. Alongside his wife Amy, he launched the Shaun O’Hara Foundation that focuses on raising awareness about less-funded life-threatening diseases.

Chad Pennington- Southwest Ranches, $3.025 Million

In 2008, Chad Pennington bought a $3.3-million Southwest Ranches home. The mansion description of the former Dolphins’ quarterback’s house includes 8,260 square feet of space, six bedrooms with six baths, an outdoor swimming pool, water fountain, home theater, four-car garage, and a BBQ area with a built-in grill. Pennington eventually listed the house in 2012 and sold it reportedly for $3.025 million. Before retiring in 2012, Pennington worked as a Fox Sports analyst for the 2011 NFL football season. He currently lives with his family in Woodford County, Kentucky.

Charles Woodson – Orlando, $3.675 Million

As a two-way player, Charles Woodson served as both a defense and offense for the Raiders and the Packers. In 2009, Woodson contributed $2 million to charity for pediatric research carried out at the C.S Mott Children’s Hospital. He followed it through with more charitable donations, contributing $100K towards the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in 2012. In 2011, Woodson bought a Florida mansion from fellow NFL star Brian Dawkins for $3.675 million. The 8,795-square-foot home sprawls over three acres and has five bedrooms, six baths, a pool, and a basketball court.
