Secrets of the Crown: Explore Mind-Boggling Royal Conspiracy Theories!

William II Was Killed by His Brother Henry

William II, also known as William Rufus, was William the Conqueror’s son and England’s king from 1087 until his death in 1100. The rumor that he was killed by his younger brother, Henry, who would become Henry I, stems from the mysterious circumstances surrounding William II’s death during a hunting expedition in the New Forest.

An arrow, supposedly shot by one of the hunting party, struck and killed William II, leading to immediate speculation about foul play. Henry ascended the throne just days after his brother’s death, further fueling suspicions that he had a hand in the incident.
